Blog Droughts...

I think I figured out why I have such a hard time updating/keeping up with my blog. I feel like I have to have pictures with every single post, and sometimes that is just too time consuming for me. So, I'm going to try to be better at just writing about what is going on in the lives of the Fernihoughs, and post pictures when I can! :)

For those of you who don't know, our baby will be born on Jan. 2. The c-section is set for noon that day! That is a month from yesterday...crazy! I can't believe he or she will be here in such a short time!

Drew and Noah now share a room. We have been painting and getting it ready and it is now done! They moved into Noah's room (which was the nursery) because it is MUCH bigger than the room Drew was in. It looks great and they seem to enjoy being together. It is cute listening to their little conversations (well, Drew does the talking and Noah just grunts and giggles at him!) and so far they have been napping and sleeping well at night. It does take them a bit to settle down, but I think that is just the newness of being together! I'll post some pictures at some point!

We are now in the process of painting Drew's old room to make it the nursery! We are almost done!!!!! I can't wait to get it all put together!

No other pending news on this end....I'll once again try to post more consistently!

Operation Christmas Child

Our church participates in Operation Christmas Child which is a way to give to children all over the world. The idea is to fill a shoe box with toys, toiletries, candy, etc. and then to ship it to the headquarter, then they distribute them all over the world to children in need. This year Drew put together his very own box, using money from his piggy bank. He really seemed to understand the concept of what he was doing, and really enjoyed shopping for his "friend in need." He has a huge heart and it was so fun to see him do this....we hope to make it a yearly tradition, and we plan on letting Noah do his own box next year, too. We had Drew make a box for a three year old boy, just like year he'll do a four year old boy and so on.

Here is Drew at the Dollar General with his shoe box...
Picking out toys to put in the box...
Helping Daddy count his money to pay for his stuff....
At home, putting the box together...
So excited about the box....
We are really proud of him and hope that he is learning to share all that he is blessed with. He is such a sweet boy with a big heart....he makes my heart swell!

My Superheros...

I was very well protected this Halloween...

We had a fun night of Trunk or Treating at the church. The weather wasn't the best, but the boys had fun and got tons of candy, so they were happy!!! I'm about ready for the candy to be out of the house, though!!!

My Power Ranger...
My little Spiderman and Power Ranger!
Power Ranger Drew trying to take down Spiderman....
All of my heroes!

We had a very nice family vacation to Cancun last was so relaxing and so fun and the boys did great. We went with Michael's mom, Carol. She enjoyed her time with the boys (and us!) and they loved the time with their Grandma! Michael and I even had a nice (expensive) date at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse! Here are a few pictures from the trip....

Noah on the plane...he was a little trooper for a 17 month, extremely active little boy!
And Drew was amazing on all legs of the trip...he just sat in his little seat and did his own thing! I was so proud of him. He is fascinated by planes...sounds like his uncles Matt and Andy!
The boys weren't all that fond of the ocean. Drew swallowed a mouthful of salt water his first time in, and that pretty much did it for him. But they did enjoy playing in the sand!
I just though Noah's expression in this picture was cute....
The resort has a little play area that the boys took advantage of once...
Noah loved the pool! He didn't venture off the steps until our last two days there, then he took off....both boys could reach the bottom throughout the entire pool.
Drew was a hoot with his water gun....Mr. Personality for sure!
And this is a picture of the ocean...doesn't it look so calm and soothing?!?! I'm ready for 2009 when we go again....

It's been awhile...

Sometimes when I don't have anything exciting going on in my life, I just don't share the day to day stuff. But I have decided (and heard many comments) that I need to update my blog. So, I've decided to just to share what is/has been going on in our lives lately! :)
  • Drew is now in pre-school. He goes twice a week (Tue/Thur) from 9-11:15. He absolutely loves it. He goes to a Christian school and is learning so much. The other day we were driving down the street and he said, "Mom, where is Noah?" I said, "Noah is right beside you." He said, "Not that Noah, the Noah from the Ark!" I thought that was super cute and perceptive of him! He is always blowing us away with the things he says and does. His imagination must really be developing at this age....he cracks us up several times a day. We personally think he is a genius, but what parent doesn't think their child is a genius?
  • Noah is just as cute and just as smart as Drew. He says several words (most of which only Michael and I can translate!): daddy, mommy, doggy, thank you, shoe, cup, dew (short for Drew), go, bye-bye, banana, night-night, let's go, hi, and many more that I just can't think of right now. When he doesn't like something, he fervently shakes his head no and uses his arms to make an X in front of his body. He only has 7 teeth, but I'm pretty sure a few molars on the left side are trying to make their way through the gums. He's been pretty cranky the last few days and there are definite bumps there. Poor guy! He is our independent child...he will do anything and go anywhere all by himself. He also bumps his head more than any kids I know. I guess the second child learns to be rough and tough at a young age.
  • Baby #3 is doing well. He (we'll just refer to it as a "he" for ease in typing!) moves around a lot and likes to kick really hard. At my last appointment, he was measuring big. You can pretty much tell that by just looking at me. I feel massive! At my 19 week ultrasound, the technician noticed that my placenta is low-lying. They are doing another ultrasound this Wednesday to check to see the location of the placenta now. They are most worried because at the last ultrasound it was anterior (in the front) and right where they need to cut for my c-section. So please pray that it moves away from that area!
  • Michael is doing well. Just busy, as usual! He cleaned our room yesterday from top to bottom. It's so nice...I mean he did everything...cleaned his closet, cleaned the drawers of his dresser, washed the windows on the inside and out, vacuumed the vents, cleaned the floor boards, vacuumed the ceiling fan...everything! We just enjoy going in there now because it is so clean! I want him to do every room of the house now! :) The youth group is going well. The students are great and keep us busy, which we love!
  • I am doing well. Just loving what I do from day to day. I'm involved in a Beth Moore Bible study right now that I am loving. She is an amazing teacher of the Word and I have learned so much about God and His love. I also volunteer in the youth offices one a week helping Michael stay caught up and random tasks. I really enjoy it. Michael and I are involved in an adult small group that is awesome. The group is about to start Dave Ramsey's "Financial Peace University." That should be interesting! We like Dave Ramsey and his principles and have already applied a lot of his ideas to our finances. Hmmm...what else about me? Nothing that I can think of right now!
I'll try to post some new pictures soon! Well, that's about all for this update! :)

Crockpot Chicken Tacos

This is the absolute BEST recipe! You have to try was so yummy and SUPER easy!

Crockpot Chicken Tacos
4-5 chicken breasts
1 package taco seasoning mix
2 cans rotel
Place chicken breasts (raw) on the bottom of your crockpot. Cover with taco seasoning. Pour one can of rotel on chicken (undrained) then drain the other can of rotel and pour it on top. Cover. Cook for 8 hours on low. Serve in tortillas, topped with shredded lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and sour cream.
***I only used 3 chicken breasts and I think I cooked mine a little too long, but they were still DELICIOUS!

This was a busy weekend for us! On Friday, we worked in the yard most of the day. I seriously think it had been two months since Michael mowed. It wasn't too out of control because we have barely had any rain! I worked on weeding the flowerbeds. It looks so much better now! Then on Friday night we went out with some good friends to dinner and to see "Creation Chronicles" which was a play about was really, really, really good. Saturday I planned our meal menu for the entire month of September! I made a master grocery list and then went to Sam's Club to buy all of my meat and other things that are a good buy from Sam's for the month. Then I went to the grocery store to get the other items I need for the week. Then I came home and repackaged all of the meat according to meals...I even cooked all of the chicken that needed to be precooked before using it in a recipe!!! I'm so excited about all of this! I hope it saves us time and money! It is so nice knowing what to cook/prepare for the day! Today is ham, tomorrow I'm using the ham bone to make bean soup, and the Thursday we are have Chicken Cordon Blue using some more of the leftover ham! :) Throughout the day on Sat. we watched tons of College Football...this is my favorite time of the year! We were very upset about Michigan losing to Appalachian State...ha ha! Just kidding...we were ecstatic!!! :) Sunday we had church as usual, then our weekly family nap time, then we went over to some friends' house for dinner and games!

Last but not least, yesterday (Labor Day) we took the boys to Lake Michigan. It was so much fun and the weather was PERFECT! We couldn't have asked for a better day! They both played their little hearts out and were such good boys! Noah loved the sand...he probably consumed about 6 lbs of it! It was a great day and a great weekend! Here are some pictures from yesterday....

First ER Trip...

Poor Noah sliced his finger open on a glass lid that had a sliver in it on Saturday night. To make a long story short, we ended up in the ER because we could not get the bleeding to stop! He came home with two stitches and the instructions to not get it wet for 10 days! Should be a fun ten days for us!!!!

Here HE/SHE Is!

Michael and I had our ultrasound last Friday! Baby looks great! Nothing seems to be missing! :) I do have a low-lying placenta, so they are watching that, so pray it moves up or that it doesn't provide any complications to this pregnancy. It shouldn't affect me much because I deliver by C-section anyway. Other than that, all is well. I'll be 20 weeks tomorrow....crazy to think that we are half way!!!!

This is my favorite is a 3-D picture of his/her little profile. Such a cute little profile, don't you think!?!?!?
And this is a picture of it's foot...
And here the baby is looking at you head is kind of hard to see what you are looking at, but if you stare hard enough, you might see the skeleton waving at you! :)

Mission Trip Blog

Oh, and while I'm gone, be sure to check the Ignite Missions blog...

Or, just click on the link in my list of blogs I read!

California, here we come!

Well, we are off tomorrow for our mission trip to Los Angeles! I'm so excited! We have a 7:00 am flight out of Grand Rapids...which translates to leaving the house at 4:00 am to get there on time and beat all the students to the airport! :) Fun stuff! We will be gone until the 24th, then Michael and I will leave later that day to drive to Texas to pick up Drew and Noah. They are staying the week and a half with my parents.

So pray for us, that we will be used by God to bless the people in LA that we encounter! Pray for the boys, that they will enjoy their special time with Emmy and Pops and that they are safe and healthy! Pray for my parents, that they get some rest and down time at some point and that they have fun with the two most precious little boys in the world!

Oh, and I should tell you that a while back I took a test...and this is what showed up!!!! Yep! Baby Fernihough #3 will be here in January of 2008!!!! I'm 14 weeks now...feeling better, but still a bit queasy every now and then! We couldn't be happier, though!

Uncle Andy

Here are some pictures from our weekend with Andy....
Drew is in love, that is for sure!

This is Andy's best attempt at making a silly face with Drew... And their serious faces....much better!
Drew had a blast with Andy on the swingset. It was pretty do you like Drew's new look?
This is one of the birthday presents that Andy brought for Drew. It's a leaf blower with goggles. Drew's new favorite toy, for sure! He also got a baseball bat and ball.
And here we are at the Detroit Tiger's game. It was a beautiful day and we had a really good time. Drew was very well behaved and pretty much just sat and watched the game. He really liked the $4 lemonade.
In case you're wondering where Noah is in all of this....he's around...just busy as usual and too busy to get a cute picture of him! He's a hoot...always on the run. He didn't go to the game with us, though. He would have been too bored and antsy!

Once again, it's been too long...

I'm so sorry...I'm a horrible blogger! Forgive me, please! It's just been busy season here in the Fernihough household! We have our youth mission trip coming up in just a little over a week, and I actually leave to drive the boys to meet my parents in TN on Monday! My to-do list is at least a mile long! I'm determined not to procrastinate and leave it all to do on Sunday afternoon.

My brother was here this past weekend. We had a great time! I'll probably do a post with pictures dedicated to that entire week!

Hmmm...what else???? I think that is about it for now. I'll try to post some more tomorrow!

Michael has been working his tail off on our yard. His schedule is super busy, so any down time he is out there. Bless his heart! We have the bulk of the work we just need to plant stuff! I'm really embarrassed to show you the before pictures....they house was so ugly from the outside! Absolutely NO curb appeal!!!! Also, the before pics were taken way back in March.

And here are the after pictures...excuse Drew, he had to be in every picture!

And here is Drew...he had to pose on the rock for me! What a cutie!

Uncle Daniel and Grandpa

Daniel flew in to visit Bruce over Memorial Day Weekend, and Michael took the train to go visit as well. They had an eventful weekend of lots of golf! They drove to our house that Sat. night to visit with us for a day. It was so fun and Drew and Noah absolutely adored their uncle Daniel! It was pretty cute!

Enjoying the afternoon...

Drew and Noah both love to play outside. Here are a few pictures of them "going to work" as Drew would say! What a creative imagination that boy has!
