Dave Ramsey LIVE!

Last night Michael and I went to see Dave Ramsey live in Grand Rapids. Oh, and Isaac went with us, too! And Carol, Michael's mom! We are going through Financial Peace University with our small group right now, so it was such a neat opportunity to see him live. I don't know if I actually learned anything new, but it was definitely motivational and well worth the money spent to go! For those of you who don't know who Dave Ramsey is, he's a financial guru that believes in paying cash for everything, getting out of debt 100%, and saving for the future. He gives you practical steps (baby steps) to help you do all of this. So far, it has made a huge difference in our personal finances. I highly recommend his stuff to anyone!

Check out his website for more info!

Weight Issues...

For Isaac, not me!!! :) Isaac did not gain back his birth weight within the first two weeks. This is the first time ever that I do not have an instant chunk for a baby. I'm having to feed him more often to hopefully get more food into him. He has kind of slowed down my milk production because he hasn't demanded much food thus far. So I'm hoping that by feeding him more often my milk supply will come back up. I have to go back to the lactation consultant on Tuesday for another weight check. Pray that what we are doing is working and that he has gained. They just said that he is such a laid back, easy baby that he doesn't feel the need to eat much. I'm glad he is laid back and "easy" but this is stressing me out!!!!

Now for my weight gain....don't ask! Just kidding! I'm actually almost in my normal clothes again. I think if I didn't have this infection in my incision, I could actually squeeze into normal pants! :) I'm hoping to be completely normal by my brother's wedding! That's my goal!

Aren't you proud...I'm still posting without any pictures! I'm trying not to let that stop me! But I will try to get some new pictures up soon!

Jaundice Update and Infection for Me!

We got back the results from Isaac's bili blood draw from yesterday morning. His levels stayed at 11.6, so he is officially off the bili-blanket! The company who rented it to us is coming to pick it up! Yippee!

Now for incision is infected. Starting over the weekend, I had excruciating pain on the right side of my incision. I could tell that it was infected just by touching it. It is so tender and painful, but luckily my pain meds from the surgery knock it out pretty good! Too bad I only have three Vicodin left! But, I'm on a pretty strong antibiotic, and I can tell that I am feeling better already!

Brotherly Love....

Could they be any cuter?!?!

Update on Isaac...

Michael took Isaac for another blood draw this morning to check his bilirubin level. The results came back and he is doing much, much, much better! His levels were down to 11 from 16! The Dr. had us take him off the light blanket for 24 hours and wants another blood test in the morning to see what his levels do without the light blanket.

Here is Isaac a few days ago...he was pretty yellow there...

And here he is with his two big brothers with his blanket on him...poor guy! It actually didn't seem to bother him at all.

My little glo-worm!!!

Isaac went back to the Dr. today and she ordered another bilirubin test for our sweet boy. His numbers have been gradually increasing. It has been hard for me to tell if he is getting more yellow or not because I am with him everyday, and I naturally have olive-toned skin, and he might just be taking after me. But his legs looked awfully yellow to me and jaundice starts in the face and moves down. On Tue. when we took him in, it was about to his belly button. Anyway, Michael took him to get the blood test...(Sidebar: I love my husband...he is such a good father and so involved in all aspects of their life...I am blessed) and we just got the results. The Dr. decided to go ahead and do the photo-therapy with the light blanket. We have to keep in on him as much as possible until we get the results from his blood draw that will happen on Sunday morning.

I don't know why, but this is really affecting me emotionally. I'm blaming it on the post-pregnancy hormones. Hopefully the light blanket will do its trick and he'll be fine super soon and my hormones will settle down. I'll try to post a picture of him so everyone can see his orange glow!

Family Photos 2007

Every year we have family pictures taken in December. It's about the only time we do it...but I wish we did it more! Maybe we'll do it again in the summer. Noah wasn't into having his picture taken...imagine that from a 19 month old! So here are a few of my favorites!

Baby Isaac

Isaac is such a blessing to our family already! He is adorable and precious and we are so thankful that the Lord chose us to be his parents! He is nursing well and sleeping great...maybe a little too great!

Drew and Noah have been up here twice to visit their new little brother. Drew seems to understand what is going on, but Noah isn't too concerned with Isaac yet. He just wants to play with the bed, blood pressure machine, boppy, etc... The first time Drew came to meet his brother, he walked in and said, "Where's my little brother Isaac?" and just looked around the room until he spotted him. Then he immediately said that he wanted to hold him.

So here is a picture of Drew first holding Isaac....
And this was yesterday...again, he immediately asked to hold his little brother...doesn't he look so proud???
This is just a sweet picture of the little guy...
Here are the three of face is still a little swollen, but that's to be expected!
And this is just crazy...last night our friends were here and DJ was holding Isaac and he was just so relaxed and laying on her shoulder, and all of a sudden he lifts his head straight up and starts looking around the room. He did this all on his own! It was so crazy!
We are doing really well. We will be going home tomorrow morning to start a whole new adventure as a family of five!

Isaac Daniel

Finally...some pictures!!! I've been working on this for quite a while and lost everything at some point. So, here we are! I even included a picture of the MASSIVE me! I carried right out front and apparently had a ton of amniotic fluid. Oh, and these pictures were taken before his bath, so he had that creamy stuff still on him!

It's a BOY!!!!

Isaac Daniel Fernihough was born today at 3:11pm. He weights 8 lb 14.6 oz and is 21 inches long. He is just precious!!!! He has been sleeping a lot so far! I'm working on posting pictures....
