Birthday Weekend Fun

In our house, Michael celebrates his birthday for a week.  I usually don't feel the need to celebrate ME quite so much, so a day suffices.  But this year was different.  I celebrated me for an entire weekend!

Friday night we went to dinner with a couple friend who just moved to Texas.  This couple is near and dear to our hearts this season of life {and always}, so it was only appropriate we spend their last night in The Springs and celebrate my birthday together.  So grateful that they are moving to the exact area that Michael's mom lives.

Saturday was the day of our family celebration.  The night started at the 25th Electric Safari and the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo!  Definitely one of my all time favorite zoo outings and will now become an annual tradition of ours!  Just check out these few pics!

One of our favorite parts of the zoo is the Sky Ride….to enjoy the amazing view.  We have never taken the Sky Ride up at night.  Oh my goodness.  It was breathtakingly beautiful.

{I just thought this was a precious picture…}

After the zoo, we had dinner at Edelweiss!  I love German food, so this was an easy choice!!

{Just us…}

{One of my gifts from Michael was a pair of jeans….which I obviously need to buy myself.
This was his creative way of presenting them to me!}

{My crazy crew…all serious except Mr. Laughter!}

Now…the main reason I wanted to go to Edelweiss is because of this lady.  She is a dear friend of mine and also the new principal of The Cottage School.  So not only is she my sweet friend, she is also my boss.  Which I love!  If we had to say good-bye to our last principal, Susan is the right one to follow in Becky's footsteps!  Susan is an extremely talented musician…and an incredible accordion player!  I have heard her play several times at school for different events, but have also wanted to experience her Saturday night gig!  And man!  We were not disappointed!  She has been playing at Edelweiss for ten years.  We were thoroughly entertained.  If you are in Colorado Springs, or come visit, I highly encourage you to experience Edelweiss on a Saturday night!

My birthday fell on Sunday this year.  Michael made the most amazing breakfast sandwiches for us for breakfast.  Then we surprised the kids that afternoon by seeing Star Wars: The Force Awakens.  Best movie ever.  I even teared up 3-4 times.  Loved it so much.

Sunday night I had some of my closest friends over for a time to just hang out.  Michael took the kids to a friend's house and it was all girls here.  We ordered Chinese, enjoyed yummy drinks, and had delicious desserts.  We talked and laughed and just loved being together.

Happy birthday to me!  It was an absolutely perfect weekend.
I know this next year is going to be full of so much JOY, GROWTH, LOVE, and HAPPINESS!
